Trouble in Talladega

CHARLOTTE, NC (April 29, 2013) - It is common knowledge amongst NASCAR drivers, crews and fans alike, anything is possible in superspeedway racing. This was proven evident this weekend, both with unseasonably cold and rain filled weather and with the racing itself. Martin and the crew of the No.44 American Custom Yachts Toyota Camry team were optimistic that their newly acquired MWR chassis would have a strong showing at Talladega. Despite qualifying in 32nd position, Martin and crew were able to move into 12th place quickly. Then, on lap 19, Martin received front end damage as he reacted to a spin involving other drivers. His knowledgable crew were able to make repairs in the garage area; however, the repairs cost Martin and crew valuable time on track and resulted in a 34th place finish.

Martin stated, "I was really looking forward to a strong showing at this track because I have strong ties to this track both personally and in my ARCA racing days. I guess things just weren't meant to be. I'm very proud of my TriStar Motorsports crew. They were able to build me a car that drafted well during the race, moved up through traffic quickly, and were able to fix the car quickly and return me to the track to finish the race."
