Martin, Hylton, Buescher, Wilson Talk Christmas
(TOLEDO, Ohio - December 23, 2010) - There are T-bone steaks, seafood gumbo, and of course, families. These are just some of the hallmarks of Christmas and the holiday season for James Hylton and others in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards family.
Today, ARCARacing.com continues its look at the holiday plans of the key personnel that make the ARCA Racing Series move, including a way that "stealing" makes the holiday special for one driver's family.
Hal Martin, driver, Venturini Motorsports:
"My Christmas and New Year's plans are to spend time with my family. With all the traveling I do with racing and the work I do as a forensic engineer, I don't get to see some of my family members very often. Christmas time brings us all together.
"As for family traditions, my dad and I cook a huge pot of seafood gumbo every year for Christmas and the whole family usually eats it over a few days. Gumbo is always better a day or two after the day you cook it, anyway.
"We spend Christmas Eve with my dad's side of the family and Christmas Day with my mom's side of the family. One thing that we started about three years ago with my mom's family is that everyone buys a generic gift and then we play card games for prizes with a "steal-a-gift" format. We usually have a good deal of fun with that!"
James Hylton, driver, No. 48 Radon.com Ford:
"There's no place like home for the holidays and that is where we will be. Our traditional Christmas Day dinner is grilled T-bone steaks. Regardless of the weather, I will be outdoors cooking.
"Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone associated with ARCA. I'll see you at Daytona next month."
Ryan Wilson, driver, No. 15 Richard Petty's Driver Search Dodge:
"I'm just having family dinners and get-togethers and stuff like that for Christmas. All my family lives in or around Randleman, N.C., so I'm not going anywhere terribly far."
Chris Buescher, driver, No. 17 Roulo Brothers Racing Ford:
"I was fortunate enough to get to come home to Texas for a few weeks to spend Christmas with my family and friends. Unfortunately, the trip involved getting all four wisdom teeth pulled. I have spent nearly a week trying to get back to real food. We will have Christmas dinner with my aunt and cousins that live 20 minutes down the road. Come January, I will make the 16-hour drive back to Charlotte and start preparing for race season."
